Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
